Programmes are delivered by inspirational guest musicians who are leading figures in the Atlantic Arc’s musical landscape.
Programmes encourage participants to cultivate their own unique process of openness and curiosity towards writing, arranging and performing, exploring new ideas, individual techniques and musical approaches.
With value placed on inter-generational exchange, SoundWaves provides opportunities, support, and training for established musicians to step into a mentoring space.
SoundWaves was piloted in Ireland in 2021 as part of Dónal Lunny's Atlantic Arc series of masterclasses and concerts. The programme engaged 60 young musicians from counties Clare, Carlow, Laois, Wexford and Waterford to learn, rehearse and perform alongside some of Ireland's most renowned traditional musicians: Dónal Lunny, Pauline Scanlon, Jarlath Henderson, Pádraig Rynne, Tara Breen, Alan Doherty, Graham Henderson, Davie Ryan, Sharon Howley, Ewen Vernal and Paul Moore.
